Have you ever felt depressed at the same time every year? Some of us have and really didn’t give it a second thought. Seasonal depression is something that happens to a person each year at the same time. It is something that many people struggle with and have to have some form of treatment. This usually happens in the fall or winter months.
It will probably end in the springtime when the warm weather sets back in. Many of us get the winter blues and want to be able to get out and enjoy the outdoors or do something they love to do in the warmer weather. This is not unusual, and many have to deal with this type of depression.
Many people that have seasonal depression gain weight in these periods. They eat and eat because this makes them feel better. The food is a substitute for the things they are lacking in their life. They will use food as a way of feeling better and getting their life back on track, the way that they want it to be. Some people will not realize they have a problem until someone else points it out to them.
Seasonal depression is very common. It’s something that many widows and widowers go through. They miss their mates and have a hard time letting go of the things that they once did with them. It is a sad time in their life. Going through holidays or certain parts of the year without the ones they loved so much is difficult for them. Some of the other symptoms of seasonal depression are fatigue, increased feeling of the need for sleep. Also there are usually decreased levels of energy. Many will have an increase in weight and concentration difficulties. Some people will want to be left alone, while others dread having everyone leave them. They don’t like being by themselves.
Getting help from a professional is very important for anyone that is suffering from seasonal depression. However, there are many people that get over the seasonal depression when the season changes and a new time begins. This is something they go through and are ready to take on the challenge. It is something that can happen no matter who you are or what your situation may be. Seasonal depression can be treated. If it is, a person’s life can be much better. Listen to your feelings.
